[ Due to how little the wikia pages have written out the game contents, a full background is written out. The following are the actual pages with a brief overview as reference:

No one knows where Ecolo came from. In fact, other than people calling him a "shadow," no one knows exactly what he is as well. Ecolo himself perhaps may not know where he originated from, either. The only difference is his willingness to answer honestly. But as far as anyone knows, Ecolo has no place he would call a "home." He travels between dimensions, floats around at the edge of the solar galaxy... He's a wanderer. No one knew of his existence at first.
One day, he came across a world filled with strange, colorful creatures called the "Puyo." Perhaps these unknown magical creatures reminded a little of himself; he was immediately interested and curious of these beings. As he watched, he learned how the Puyo worked, of how much more fun it can be when you stack more of them together. What a waste to leave these fun things in one world, why not spread it to another place? He decided to put his idea into action, and opened the gates to another dimension.
That second world was Ringo Andou's world.
During the process, the inhabitants other than the puyo was sucked into the second world, causing more chaos. Oh, what fun! People being confused and unsure what's doing on. Why not participate in the chaos himself? Just as he thought of that, he took notice of one of the girls that fell through the portal: Arle. She was already from another world, plus she had quite some power. Yet another mischievous thought passed by his head, and he took over Arle's body to go venture around this new world.
Ecolo's fun comes to an end when Ringo and Amitie catches up to him, though, and knocks him out of Arle's body. Annoyed, Ecolo decides that he should just bury all worlds with the Puyo and gets ready to do that, although he gets foiled by this once again, with Ringo, Amitie, and Arle tag-teaming against him. With so much power against him, the effects he had caused were undone, and everyone returned to their original worlds.
Some time pass, and a mysterious explosion in Risukuma's lab causes a fracture in the dimension and Ringo, Risukuma, and their friend, Maguro, get blasted off to the world with Puyo. Ecolo somehow gets dragged along as well, where he falls to the ground and causes a slight amnesia effect on him. When he finds himself in Primp Town's forest, all he could remember was his name and what powers he had. While trying to figure out what his purpose and where he was headed, he decides he should wander around the world playing puyo matches, since he did remember that they were fun. While he wanders around, running into random people, playing puyo matches and learning how each person had their own wishes, he runs into Satan, who had a tremendous amount of power, so much that he could create a castle from the ground up in a breath. He gets a grand idea then, of how it would be so nice if everyone's wishes can get granted! He starts unraveling the idea as he gets Satan to cooperate while letting others pick up on what he was scheming. He doesn't put his plan into motion until Ringo lets her feelings out of wanting to return home, where he appears before her to make her become suspicious. The plan unravels into a huge chaos as all the other magic users gather in attempt to stop him and Satan, even after Ecolo took over Satan to drive the demon's limitless power out of control (in which during the process, he finally regains his entire memories). It was all under Ecolo's planning, though, when Risukuma brings out his test tube with explosive experiment, and the explosion sends everyone back to their original worlds, including Ecolo himself...

Dec. 27th, 2014 04:45 pm- "Childhood" memories consist of him floating about in space. Look at all the darkness, no sound whatsoever, floating around to the oblivion. There's no emotion or thoughts, just blankly staring into space.
- A "memory" of him happily frolicking in the flower fields with one smiling Ringo. It's actually a daydream he had before but he pretty much wants it to be real.
- Flooding the world with puyo, feeling excited about his plan of causing so much fun for the people in the world. You won't feel any malicious intent throughout this entire memory, just him having fun as he watches a number of people getting squashed by giant jellos with faces.
- After the showdown with him and the three girls, him feeling a little lonely as the world he collided separates to its original places with respectable character returning to them and him left alone once again.
